19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four early break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
